Next Tasting – “Hot” Wines from Bordeaux 2003 (May 19th 7:30 PM) . The next AWS tasting will be of the “Hot” 2003 Bordeaux wines. Yes, every wine will be a hot one. The 2003 vintage was the hottest recorded vintage of the century. We are not exactly talking about the best vintage of the century but in relation to weather conditions this crop of grapes experienced the most extreme heat of any vintage. The harvest was earlier than have ever been recorded. The vintage provided potential for great wines, containing lush, ripe fruit and tannins. But with the hot temperatures come many challenges for the wine makers. The grapes were unlike those seen in most vintages and required some special handling. Those that did it well turned out exceptional wines those that didn’t resulted in average wines. . . 
. Here is your chance to see what the French can do when the sugar levels reach those of a normal California vintage. Dick and Mary have put together a wonderful sampling of eight 2003 Bordeaux wines along with a few old vintages to make the tasting that more interesting. .
